Claude Code without a subscription

Set up in a minute (macOS and Linux)

Install Claude Code: npm install -g @anthropic-ai/claude-code. Then in a terminal:

Common errors

• It asks to sign in to Anthropic. The variables did not reach it: on Windows export does not work, use $env: or settings.json.
• 404. ANTHROPIC_BASE_URL has no /v1 and no trailing slash.
• Auth conflict. Run /logout in Claude Code and remove an old ANTHROPIC_API_KEY variable.
